Vandag was my soos altyd lekker om my mensie te sien.

Daar het iets gebeur wat trane in my oe gebring het.  Hulle het op die stoep gesit met koffie en koekies, en eweskielik spring Trudie op en met haas loop sy weg.  Hulle vra waar sy heen gaan en al wat ek gehoor was “my son is here”.  Net toe kom hy om die draai.  Die blyskap in haar gesig was awesome, koffie in die hand gee sy hom ‘n omhels en ‘n drukkie.

Resthill se personeel was uitstekend met hul werk om te help sodat ek almal se hare kon sny. Baie dankie

Thank you thank you thank you! Having spent 5 blissful days with the Burkei staff and residents has been heavenly and has filled my heart with comfort. Maria with her kind maternal manner. Nono with her young energy throwing a ball to them all in the garden to keep them active – they were all good at catching – you could start a netball team 😂. Dad and Flos, discussing their past mixed-up traumas with their conversation mingling and blending but both perfectly in tune, calm and comforting to each other. Estelle being ever helpful and those 3 glamorous older ladies – always so elegant and poised. Me ‘proofreading’ an Antjie Krog poem with dad in the garden, finding Flos and dad chatting away in someone else’s room when I arrived one day like 2 cheeky school kids, making jokes with Flos. He is happy there. They are all happy there – you can feel it. The space you have created is beautiful and peaceful, the structure you have created is warm and supportive, the staff you have nurtured we will always be indebted to. I will be sad today that I cannot hold his hand and kiss his forehead tomorrow but I know he is happy and that is more than I could have ever wished for. Resthill feels like a very blessed place. I cannot thank you enough and Nicola, Jill and Aymone for finding you. God bless you xxx

Dear Esmarie, thank you so very much for a wonderful visit. I agree with everything Luique said – what an extraordinary place. This morning Maria greeted me with the biggest smile and I saw how much love the residents receive as they come one by one for breakfast. And wonderful Patience and Nono and so many others. It is clear that this work is a calling. And clear too that the important things are exceedingly well managed. Hats for the sun, beautiful food for sustenance and joy, engaging and wonderfully responsive staff. Thank you for creating this space. Warm regards

Alet ek wou dit net baie graag vir jou sê. Die tuine lyk PRAGTIG by Resthill. Toe ek Dinsdag by Resthill inry, was die eerste ding wat ek gedink het. Wow kyk hoe mooi lyk die tuine!!! 🤩

Dit gee mense absolute kalmte en rustigheid of mens op n ander planeet is met geen probleme nie. ☺

Ek en my pa het Woensdag buite gesit, dit was so kalm en mooi om ons, met al die voeltjies en mooi tuine. Die vinke was hard besig om nessies in die bome te bou…. ek ons het  Tiptolle gesien en gehoor, kolganse….

Dit is besonders. 🌸

Met hierdie kuiers vra mens nie: “Het hy ons herken?” nie, maar “Het ons dit met mekaar geniet?”

Na drie wonderlike sulke geleenthede hierdie jaar, sê ek graag dankie aan Resthill se vriendelike gasvryheid en liefde wat dit alles moontlik maak.

To the amazing Resthill team, I just want to say thank you so much for all your dedication, hard work, caring , sacrifices and compassion for our loved ones. It gets noticed and I have no words to say what it means to me. I could not have asked for a better home for my father Albert. I believe that the Covid bug will go away and that everything will return to normal.
